Switching Things Up Around Here

The super-crazy, bright-colored, 80’s-hyper-color blog style was fun… for a while. Over time, I got so tired of seeing my face with the wincing expression and super-trendy sketchy colors. I got to the point where I couldn’t stand looking at my blog anymore. I stopped posting and became quite disinterested in my blog… using Twitter and Flickr to fill my yearn for Internet-gab. I woke up at about 5am and couldn’t sleep this morning, so I decided to bring my blog back from the dead. I’m quite excited about creating a super-clean, super-simple style that loads in a fraction of the amount of time, as well as working on getting my flickr and twitter streams integrated in to my actual blog stream. Yay for contiguous life streams! Stay tuned for some big changes.

ZeFrank on Twitter…

Probably one of the cooler nerd-mails I’ve gotten in a while:

Some updates…

In adding my blog to Mail.app’s new integrated RSS Feeds, I discovered an ugly bug. I had the pathing set up wrong for RSS2.0 feeds. I apologize if anyone’s been affected by this… It has been fixed, so on with the show!

Quarterlife

A new TV series called Quarterlife made its premiere last night on Myspace. This show is unique because it is completely independent of major networks - or of TV itself, as the show is the first known TV show that is written, produced and distributed completely for world wide web consumption. Quarterlife embodies the magical distribution and social networking aspects of the internet and, beyond that, it’s really good. A show, which is written and produced in the style of a modern-day video blogger, about a group of close friends who become the primary subject of their friend’s video blog… brilliant.

Steve Cooley does an excellent job of summarizing the importance of this show and it’s format. As Steve points out, the ideal next step for the show would be to (hopefully) stray away from just MySpace and add other social networks and itunes as distribution methods. Also, I’d love to see a downloadable flavor that includes HD format and podcast format. Because of my disdain for Myspace, I chose to wait until today, when they released the first episode on their site for non-myspace viewing. I dig the “High Video Quality” and “Hit the Lights” features in their built-in player. Anyway, this is another exciting step for Hollywood talent walking away big, evil corporate media networks and getting back to what counts… good entertainment. Take that, NBC!

Some notes about the new jonokane.com…

Yeah, so I’m back! There are a few minor changes I want to make, but so far, so good. Some things to note:

  • - You’ll need to re-add me to your feeds if you were subscribed to the old jonokane.com/wordpress feed.
  • - Yeah, the fonts are a tad small, but I love the way they look. Accessible, larger font size css available soon.
  • - Text-zooming +/- needs fixing. I know, it totally sucks!
  • - No contact me yet.. if you’re here now, you probably know how to get a hold of me. New contact page coming soon.
  • - Please enjoy.

Content is King

Hi! I’m back after a many-month hiatus. Matt suggested that I check out Expression Engine as a straight-forward and clean alternative to wordpress. I have always loved WP and still do, but I was looking for something a bit different that would be a little more simple to build-out a functional site around, a more effective CMS, if you will. So far, I’m having a lot of fun with EE. I will be blogging in a more micro-style - tumbling if you will. Stay tuned for more content, as content is king.
