Believe it or not, this is a fan video and not an official video for one of my favorite songs on Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest, Two Weeks. The song is beautiful, but the visuals are absolutely fantastic. Way to go, Gabe Askew - I’m a fan!!!

I’m on a roll,
I’m on a roll this time.
I feel my luck could change.
Kill me sarah,
kill me again with love.
It’s gonna be a glorious day.
Pull me out of the aircrash,
pull me out of the lake,
‘cause I’m your superhero.
We are standing on the edge.
The head of state
has called for me by name
but I don’t have time for him.
It’s gonna be a glorious day!
I feel my luck could change.
Pull me out of the aircrash,
pull me out of the lake,
‘cause I’m your superhero.
We are standing on the edge.
We are standing on the edge.

Because I’ve been on a Siouxsie kick lately, I figure this one is just far to appropriate. Happy Halloween!

Face to Face
Face to face
my lovely foe
Mouth to mouth
raining heaven’s blows
Hand on heart
tic tac toe
Under the stars
naked as we flow
Cheek to cheek
the bitter sweet
Commit your crime in your deadly time
It’s too divine
I want to bend
I want this bliss but something says I must resist
Another life
another time
We’re Siamese twins writhing intertwined
Face to face
no telling lies
The masks they slide to reveal a new disguise
You never can win
it’s the state I’m in
This danger thrills and my conflict kills
They say follow your heart
follow it through
But how can you
when you’re split in two?
And you’ll never know
You’ll never know
One more kiss
before we die
Face to face
and dream of flying
Who are you?
who am I?
Wind in wings
two angels falling
To die like this
with a last kiss
It’s falsehood’s flame
it’s a crying shame
Face to face
the passions breathe
I hate to stay but then I hate to leave
And you’ll never know
You’ll never know . . .

Oh man, it’s been weeks!! I’ve been super-busy with stuff, but had to take a moment to share this amazing Radiohead remix posted by James Houston/1030 on Vimeo:
Big Ideas (Don’t get any) from 1030 on Vimeo.
He had quite a challenge, given the time signature and ‘instruments’ he was using. I’ve never even seen “hard drive speakers” before. Wow. I would say the only part of this that doesn’t really sit right with me is the part where he claims it doesn’t sound good. I think it sounds perfect. Read more about it here: http://www.vimeo.com/1109226 ("Bitpunk" title credit goes to Kottke… perfect genre!)

This is an absolutely beautiful commercial that simply consists of a number of gorgeous slow-motion shots of water balloons. Very refreshing.

This looks super-powerful. A new technology that could change or affect the music/sound production process!
Trent Reznor has some interesting things to say when it comes to his severed ties with Interscope Records, the new NIN album - Ghosts I-IV, and how Radiohead handled their web-release of In Rainbows. I hadn’t realized that the release was pulled from the web when it was for sale in CD format. That certainly sounds like a bait/switch to me. He brings up some good points - although, I must disagree w/ the quality of the 160kbps MP3. To my ears, while not “CD quality”, In Rainbows is definitely not “Myspace quality” (which, by the way, is more like 64kbps - absolute garbage). I’m sure on Trent’s fancy-pants studio monitors, it sounds like rubbish, but to most listeners, it’s probably fine. Oh, speaking of Trent Reznor’s fancy-pants, I stumbled across this yesterday. The fact that someone’s publishing personal requests is lame - however, now I have a new understanding of how those pants actually work! Anyway, … in my opinion, his perspective in interviews is always really interesting… enjoy!
Speaking of psychedelics(I’m on a roll today!)!!! Well, The Orb sure are a different experience than they were about a decade ago. That said, this new track, while not like what they were doing back in the mid-90s, it’s still not bad. I dig the English singing that is almost kinda middle-eastern-sounding. The funky samples are a bit too much and the animation of the video leaves much to be desired. Regardless, it’s great to see The Orb still writing. Hey, LX, when are you and Co back in the US? When does The Orb’s Dream come to the US? Hmmm?
